Curriculum research, evidence analysis and teacher-support development
As a long-term employee at a Japanese International School I was given responsibility for three related curriculum-development goals: analyse the relationship between the company's existing English curriculum and EIKEN proficiency levels; identify ways to provide stronger support for teachers, students and staff; and develop detailed proposals for future language-curriculum development.
1. EIKEN-to-Curriculum Analysis
I manually reviewed EIKEN examination materials and built a structured research database in Notion.
I then manually analysed the company's existing textbooks, recording grammar points, vocabulary and other relevant language features in detailed Google Sheets. These were subsequently compared against the EIKEN research database.
Rather than relying on AI, I examined the evidence myself and documented specific relationships between curriculum content and EIKEN requirements. Findings were then consolidated into a Google Docs report containing detailed examples and references back to the underlying research.
This process gave me practical experience working with a large body of educational data, establishing categories, cross-referencing evidence and turning detailed research into a usable written analysis.
2. Developing Curriculum Support
The second area focused on how curriculum resources could better support teachers, students and families.
Drawing on over 10 years of classroom experience, I developed and proposed practical support mechanisms including mnemonic memory strategies, visual explanations using pictures and diagrams, clearer explicit grammar support, and structured mapping of classroom games and activities to curriculum content.
The aim was not simply to add more material, but to make existing curriculum information easier to understand, teach and reinforce.
3. Curriculum Development Proposals
The final stage brought the research together into detailed proposals for future language-curriculum development.
The proposals used the evidence gathered during the earlier analysis to identify areas of alignment, potential development and practical implementation. The work was presented to the company and received positive feedback, with elements of the proposed approach subsequently implemented.

Because the underlying curriculum materials are proprietary, the public portfolio version focuses on the research methodology, analytical process and documentation approach rather than reproducing company-specific textbook content.
